Despite the increase in business, Mohr said he would like to see Minnesota businesses remain open because he has been in their position and doesn’t want to see them shut down.
“In this business, it’s hard to survive a week without cash flow,” Mohr said. “You know, there’s been a lot of places that have closed for good.”
Ashley Penney, a regular at Gronk’s, said supporting local businesses is important during this time – both for the businesses and for the customers.
“It gets you out of the house, it gives you a chance to at least not eat the same dinners every night,” Penney said.
Penney added that safety protocol in place makes her feel safe.
“I think they’ve done a really good job separating people and making people who comes to these places feel comfortable,” Penney said.
On the other side of town, Earth Rider Brewery has worked to safely serve customers in a tent outdoors. On Sunday, the brewery hosted a socially distanced open mic and market.
“People are excited—just to go do something, you know, support people,” Lyla Abukhodair, an event organizer said.
