Local small businesses in Wickliffe will have an opportunity to apply for a small business grant for up to $5,000 thanks to $300,000 allocated from the CARES Act.Wickliffe City Council on Oct. 12 approved the plan in order to provide immediate assistance to small businesses because of the economic impact caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic.Applying for the grant is on a first-come, first-served basis and applications can be filled out immediately with the deadline on Nov. 10.
Economic Director Monica Drake said that the grant provides a way for the businesses to get back up and running.“It’s to help them with a small amount of recovery,” she said. “They’re a lifeline for all communities.”Drake said that the ability to help out the local businesses is a “way for the city to give back to the various businesses.”“We see it as a small way to help them be successful,” she said. “They are important to our community and to our health of the community.”
