Django vs. Node.js: Pick the right web development framework

django vs. node.js: pick the right web development framework

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

As part of the planning process for a typical web or mobile development project, programming teams will need to decide on the framework they’ll use to design and govern the apps they build. This choice largely depends on the project’s overall business requirements, as well as the skill set and specific expertise of your team. However, there are other factors to consider, such as whether the development team wants something that is more out of the box, or something that is geared toward high levels of customization.

Django and Node.js are two popular open source framework options capable of meeting the needs of web and mobile developers. Each one is unique, however, and the choice between Django vs. Node.js will mainly come down to the requirements of your project. In this article, we’ll give a brief overview of each framework’s history and notable features. Then, we’ll review the key comparison points that often help developers decide which framework to use for their mobile and web app development project.

History of Node.js and Django
Django was released in 2005 as an open source framework for feature-rich web app development. Much of Django’s features are geared toward speeding up the …

Building Digital Resiliency for the Post-COVID World

iam platform login page background

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

At the core of ongoing efforts to develop the digital workplace is building resilience and efficiency into modern business. This is particularly true with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen an explosion in remote working as millions of workers shifted from the corporate office to home.Much of the digital transformation focus has been on that shift but the real focus should be on building digital resiliency for after the pandemic. Here’s what organizations need to do.Ensure Infrastructure Is Resilient Building resiliency requires adoption of collaboration and communication platforms, remote access technology, analytics and automation to help employees work smarter and keep business moving forward, even in times of uncertainty, said Kris Beevers, co-founder and CEO of New York City-based NS1. However, it’s important to remember when shifting to a smart workplace that the foundational infrastructure in many companies is brittle, restrictive and unable to scale to support these modern applications, he said. While the COVID-19 pandemic compressed years of modernization projects into months, companies need to ensure these efforts include the underlying core infrastructure that ensures elasticity and scalability. Shifting to software-defined versions of technologies like DNS, DHCP and IP address management (DDI) provide important capabilities necessary to …

CEH Study Guide: How to Become a Certified Ethical Hacker

ceh study guide: how to become a certified ethical hacker

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

Securing a job as an ethical hacker is a tricky process.
You might have substantial knowledge in the field with hands-on experience in penetration testing tools, SIEM systems, and the latest technology. But still, the interviews may not go as you plan.
Whenever the hiring manager asks about your experience, you land on a puzzle with multiple pieces of information, trying to figure out the ones you can share. As a penetration tester, you have a confidentiality agreement with your previous employer, and you don’t want to break it.
In such situations, you need industry-recognized certifications to validate and support your knowledge and experience. CEH is one such certification.

What is CEH?
A Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification, offered by EC-Council, validates your knowledge in bypassing an organization’s security defenses by accessing their network, applications, databases, and other critical data through gaps in the security construct.
It tests your skills in uncovering vulnerabilities that can be exploited by a malicious attacker. A CEH certification prepares you to match a black hat hacker’s techniques and creativity while equipping you with an in-depth understanding of hacking tools, evolving attack vectors, and preventative countermeasures.
Certified ethical hackers obtain permission from the asset …

Should You Build a Serverless Application? | Built In

should you build a serverless application? | built in

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

Tim Maliyil doesn’t characterize himself as an early adopter. But back in 2018 — when he was volunteering to build out a new donation website for his old high school in the Bronx — representatives from Google reached out to offer him a free Chromebook in exchange for a half-hour conversation about switching to serverless computing.“I was like, ‘I’ll take a half hour for a free Chromebook, no problem,’” Maliyil said. After the meeting, Maliyil was convinced. He switched providers over to Google and tried out serverless computing for the first time, building his high school’s donation website to run on Google’s App Engine. The serverless platform was a great fit with his needs, and Maliyil switched his two companies, AlertBoot and PodFriends, over to it as well. He still seems surprised he made the switch.“If you asked me a few years ago, I wouldn’t have touched it,” Maliyil said. “We tend to be final adopters.”WHAT IS SERVERLESS COMPUTING?Serverless computing allows customers of serverless platforms to run code without being responsible for the infrastructure. Customers have less flexibility compared to other hosting methods, but there are also significant cost and effort-saving possibilities.Amazon introduced …
