Nets Gaming Crew teams with eyewear company to help reduce eye strain

nets gaming crew teams with eyewear company to help reduce eye strain

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

Professional NBA 2K players don’t have to worry much about nagging ankle injuries or blown out Achilles tendons affecting their online play. Yeah, a wrist injury could do them dirty, but the bigger long-time issue is … eye strain! Hours in front of console will do that to you.
So, the Nets GC (for Gaming Crew) has partnered with Zenni, the leading online eyecare provider, to take advantage of its Blokz technology, which the company says reduces eye strain by blocking blue light emitted by digital screens. Zenni is also NetsGC’s Official Eyewear Partner. Jerseys featuring the Zenni logo will appear on the uniforms worn by each of NetsGC’s in-game avatars and Zenni branding will be featured within the game through the remainder of the season both on NetsGC’s home court and through visual courtside signage.
“The idea is that our players are training for eight plus hours a day, whether that be on the consoles themselves, with the blue light and the potential strain of their eyes and if they are not playing, they are watching film together,” said Josh Pruss, Head of NetsGC Business Operations. “The idea is that the majority of our team, the …

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

This story is part of CNET’s coverage of Apple Arcade, including exclusive first looks we got at some of the service’s high-profile new games. When the constant bombardment ofcoronavirus coverage and other world events becomes overwhelming (which is often), playing a video game is one of my favorite ways to unwind. Immersing myself in a good story or puzzle is the perfect distraction when I get anxious about the world opening back up. Apple Arcade, Apple’s $4.99 (£4.99, AU$7.99) monthly gaming subscription service that launched back in September, has a catalog of more than 120 games in multiple genres, with new games added every week. The games are available on iPad, iPhone, Mac and Apple TV.  Since I started using Apple Arcade, I’ve found that many of the games’ aesthetics, soundtracks or tactile nature make them particularly soothing. Here are some of the best games to help you decompress on Apple Arcade so far.PatternedDeveloper: Borderleap

Spending time with friends isn’t as easy as it used to be, but if you’re anything like me, you’ve made the most of your games collection to bridge that gap through virtual ways and means. I don’t think I’ve played as many Jackbox Games sessions in my life as I have these last two months over Zoom.
Now there are the stats to prove that people are using games to make up for their lost social time. To celebrate its tenth birthday this month, Green Man Gaming–one of the world’s best-known online video game retailers–has showcased ten years of its data, and it’s outlined just how playing trends have evolved since the recent coronavirus-led lockdowns worldwide.
Since the beginning of this year, four particular game categories–co-op, multiplayer , open-world and puzzle–have rocketed in popularity, emphasizing three understandable desires: spending time with others; losing oneself in a massive expanse; and brain-teasing distractions.

Green Man Gaming reports that each of these genres has boomed by 45% since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. Titles like Modern Warfare, …

stitt seeks clarification from judge in gaming dispute to determine whether he can amend compact agreement

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov. Kevin Stitt has asked a federal judge to rule that he has the power to let tribes offer games not authorized by state law.He has asked the judge to put mediation in an ongoing legal dispute over tribal gaming compacts on hold pending the outcome of his request.Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter and legislative leaders said Stitt did not have that power.

Hunter and some tribes asked the Department of the Interior to reject new compacts that the governor has signed with two tribes.“Subsequently, Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter and many of the non-settling Tribes have taken a position that questions the Governor’s authority to bind the State to new gaming compacts that address forms of gaming ‘prohibited by state law,’ specifically challenging these compacts,” Stitt’s brief, filed Thursday, said. “This position implies that complete resolution may not be possible, as it suggests that the Oklahoma Legislature must control the scope of the settlement discussions.“This position is wholly inconsistent with the concept of Tribal sovereignty, the IGRA (Indian Gaming Regulatory Act) scheme, and Oklahoma’s Constitution and statutes.”Stitt is asking the judge to determine that he is authorized to negotiate …

Kings Guard sets NBA 2K League record, beats Jazz Gaming

kings guard sets nba 2k league record, beats jazz gaming

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

It all came down to one possession in Kings Guard Gaming’s 60-58 win over Grizz Gaming on Friday.
Kings Guard trailed by one point with 1.1 seconds remaining in the second game of a best-of-three series. They had the ball, and a chance at a game-winning — and series-clinching — shot.
Bash, the point guard, stood at the top of the arc and ran right. Drawing his defender into a screen, he cut back in the opposite direction, received the in-bound pass and pulled up for a 3-point shot.
A perfect shot.
A game-winning shot, the first of his NBA 2K League career.
His controller didn’t stay in his hands much longer.

You probably wouldn’t believe it if someone told you last season that Matt Robles, aka Bash, would come up clutch.
After all, he wasn’t even drafted last season. Seventy-five selections were made across four rounds, and Robles’ gamer tag wasn’t called.
Now, he’s out to prove them all wrong.
“I use it as motivation,” he told NBC Sports Bay Area in an interview Thursday, prior to his game-winning heroics. “I was undrafted last …

Sony will show off the first PlayStation 5 games on June 4th

sony will show off the first playstation 5 games on june 4th

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

Sony has been dishing out details on the PlayStation 5 piece-by-piece, rather than dropping all of the details at one big mega event. First came word of the Holiday 2020 release window. Then came an overview of the specs — like that it’ll have a super-fast solid-state drive by default. Most recently, they showed off the controller. (The divvied up approach makes sense, really; with the ongoing pandemic preventing events like E3 and GDC from happening… why wouldn’t Sony work on their own schedule and make every aspect its own mini-spectacle?)
The next glimpse they give, it seems, will be of the first games coming to the console.
This morning Sony announced that they’ll be hosting a live-streamed event on June 4th at 1pm Pacific. In a blog post about the event, Sony Interactive CEO Jim Ryan clarifies the focus:
We’ve shared technical specifications and shown you the new DualSense wireless controller. But what is a launch without games?
That’s why I’m excited to share that we will soon give you a first look at the games you’ll be playing after PlayStation 5 launches this holiday.
Ryan also notes that the event should last roughly an hour, …

Kings Guard Gaming sets NBA 2K League record on way to win over Jazz Gaming

Information Access and Management (IAM) Platform powers IAM Network - 60,000 + engaged information professionals worldwide.

BEGIN ARTICLE PREVIEW:

Kings Guard Gaming had quite an eventful night on Thursday while on their way to a win against Jazz Gaming and a 4-2 season record. Not only did we see the Kings break an NBA 2K League record for least amount of points given up in the first half of Game 1, but they also hit a game-winning shot with just seconds left in Game 2.The Jazz, now 1-1, never really stood a chance in the first game, losing to the Kings 77-30. Most of that work was done in the first two quarters.Kings Guard jumped out to a 17-1 run to start the game and it was smooth sailing after that. The Kings defense held the Jazz to just 7 points in the first half. Jazz Gaming had a hard time getting a shot up and when they did, the Kings defense was suffocating shooters causing missed shot after missed shot.Often times, no matter the sport, when a team is completely blown out in one game, they come out hot and ready to bounce back in the next. That’s exactly what Jazz Gaming did in Game 2.The Jazz held the lead for most of the game before the Kings …
