Local business owner questions what’s ‘essential’

FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Governor Gretchen Whitmer decided to close nonessential businesses on Monday. Since then, many have been wondering what’s essential and what’s not. Stores like Best Buy, Target, and Big Lots are open while malls, nail salons and clothing stores have been ordered to temporarily shutdown. “We’re deemed nonessential so we have to close. Just seems to be a little one-sided,” said John Pemberton, owner of Peerless Mattress Company.
