Imprint Theatreworks’ production of the ax-murderer musical Lizzie led the 2019-2020 Dallas-Fort Worth Theater Critics Forum Awards with six citations, including for director Ashley H. White, lead actress Devin Berg and the rest of the cast, music director Rebecca Lowrey and the rest of the band and costume designer Jessie Wallace.Three shows each won five awards: Prism Movement Theater’s pandemic-inspired drive-in drama Everything Will Be Fine, Theatre Three’s backstage comedy Noises Off and Amphibian Stage’s Hans & Sophie, about siblings who lead a Nazi resistance movement.Four performers were cited for multiple roles, including Kelsey Milbourn in Everything Will Be Fine and Ada and the Engine at Stage West and The Thanksgiving Play at Undermain Theatre. Kara-Lynn Vaeni was recognized for her direction of both Noises Off and Stage West’s The Children. And Nick Brethauer won awards for his set design of both Villa at Teatro Dallas and Two by Beckett at WingSpan Theatre Company.Among six special citations, Theatre Three artistic director Jeffrey Schmidt was lauded for his innovative, green-screen approach to a filmed production of The Immigrant. In all, 18 different theater companies and the AT&T Performing Arts Center’s Elevator Project won awards. …
