Flu season is upon us. And with young students preparing to head back to campus in November, Visalia Unified School District is set to host two drive-thru flu vaccination events. Elementary school students up to sixth grade are the closest to receiving in-person instruction after the Visalia Unified School District Board of Trustees approved a waiver on Tuesday night. The waiver submitted to Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) the following day for review and approval. With some students headed back to the classroom, vaccinations are crucial to preventing the spread of the flu. The drive-thru event is free to the public. The first round of vaccinations will be available on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mt. Whitney High School, 900 S. Conyer Street. The second round will be available on Oct. 29 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Visalia Adult School, 3110 East Houston Ave. The vaccinations are provided by Tulare County HHSA Immunization Department. Symptoms of the flu:Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, and fatigue.
