Fujitsu has unveiled a new analytics platform that will help companies collect more (and better) data from smart vehicles. The solution analyzes video footage of a vehicle’s surroundings that is captured using cameras inside the car, and has been dubbed the Fujitsu Future Mobility Accelerator Digital Twin Analyzer.
According to Fujitsu, clients will be able to use the Analyzer to launch and improve mobility services like maps and traffic monitoring, and to inform the design of future vehicles. The data can also be used to make more informed insurance decisions. For example, the platform can determine how fast a car was going at the time of an accident, and whether there were any traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, or other road markers in the area.
In that regard, the Analyzer is able to gauge the position and trajectory of a variety of objects relative to the vehicle. That includes buildings, pedestrians and other cars, which can be classified according to their make and model. The Analyzer can even spot store openings, store closures, and other local events, which allows map services to be updated in real time.
