New Delhi: Google has started scheduling meetings with India’s leading startups and unicorns like PhonePe, BharatPe, Razorpay and IPL title sponsor Dream11 over the updated Play Store rules.
In fact, sources tell ET Now that this entire outreach exercise is being spearheaded by Google’s global leadership in the United States. And top executives from Google India have also been a part of these virtual meetings. Sources say Google has already reached out to nearly 15 startups including unicorns from India.
When contacted, Google India confirmed the listening workshops have started.

The Indian startups have shared their apprehensions over Google’s 30% gatekeeping global policy, saying its too high in the Indian context. Some apps have also raised the issue of the Play Store excluding third party e-wallets as a payment mode.
