County continues to add coronavirus cases

Crawford County has added 52 new coronavirus cases, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Friday. It raises the county’s total case count to 1,362 since early March.The agency has not released information on any of the cases.The DOH’s online hospital preparedness dashboard Friday reported Crawford County had 27 coronavirus patients hospitalized, 7 adult coronavirus patients in ICU and two on a ventilator. That’s a change from the 20 patients, 10 in ICU and two on a ventilator reported Thursday. Meadville Medical Center has 23 ventilators. The state’s dashboard said Friday there were four adult ICU beds available in the county.
Meadville Medical Center said it has capacity within its ICU and the ability to expand if needed.“If the ICU would need to expand we have four rooms which could be converted at this time,” Don Rhoten, Meadville Medical Center’s vice president of consumer engagement, emailed the Tribune. “We are dedicating rooms to patients with COVID-19 so that number will fluctuate as demand dictates.”According to ZIP code data from the state, Meadville (16335) has had an increase of 35 confirmed cases and eight probable cases since Wednesday, bringing its total to 424 confirmed cases and 117 probable cases since March, or almost 40 percent of the …
