Hamilton-based start-up Utopi has secured a deal to install its Internet of Things (IoT) technology across Moda Living’s UK-wide build-to-rent estate. Utopi’s smart building sensors measure humidity, temperature, CO2, light, noise, motion and occupancy and create a wellness score which feeds back in real-time to a database.
Its software platform enables the sensors to automatically adjust air-conditioning, security and lighting systems, which saves money on energy costs and maintenance. Utopi was founded last year by a team including COO John Trower, a founding manager of Scottish Telecom and current chairman of Commsworld, and CTO Falk Bleyl, who held the equivalent role with Glasgow IoT firm Boston Networks. Utopi employs 12 staff.
