Avangrid Renewables has opened a new office in Virginia to support the development of the up to 2500MW Kitty Hawk offshore wind project.
The office is situated in Virginia Beach.
The office will provide a base for the Kitty Hawk offshore wind project development team who have been working to facilitate ongoing site assessment activity, local stakeholder meetings, and community outreach.

The commercial lease for the project was awarded to Avangrid Renewables by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management in 2017.
The company has been studying the area in detail since then, most recently launching an advanced meteorological buoy in July 2020.
Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer said: “Offshore wind will play a key role in Virginia’s clean energy economy for decades to come.
“We are very excited to have Avangrid Renewables building that future here in Virginia Beach with the Kitty Hawk Offshore Wind project.”
